I recently tried to change my Username from the default first five letters of my email address by following one of Shawn Brinks tutorials. After three or four failed attempts I gave up and am stuck with the default which is C:\ User\grtat. I will probably return to that in the near future. Before making these attempts however, I copied some personal files and folders to an external hard drive...

Hi Folks, I have an iMac, but my son uses a HP Desktop Pavillion. 9 years old now, and has just quit. PSU (Green light in back is steady on), Battery, and on/off switch seem fine, so likely something fried. Probably can be considered a really good lifetime So, being a good daddy, will get him something new.

I made a new WindowsApps folder in D:\ and took over the ownership with "Take ownership context menu" hack from this Article (https://www.maketecheasier.com/access-windowsapps-folder-windows-10/). I'm able to see the files inside but unable to write. I only have one game inside the D:\WindowsApps folder called World of Tanks Blitz so it's not very messy. Hi, I'm brand new to this forum. I would like to stop the news pop ups that come up in a gray box in the lower right hand corner of my laptop. I did find an answer that said the following "This is probably something you can suppress by disabling Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions -> Show app notifications (assuming that the culprit displays this as a standard Windows notification)....

"... besides ticking the Become an Insider box there is another way to tell Microsoft you like to live on the wild side, and that is simply clicking on the Check for Updates button... In a blog post last week Michael Fortin, Corporate Vice President of Windows revealed that clicking that button marked you out as an advanced user willing to test early versions of Windows 10 patches." Sometimes it doesn't boot correct, showing the Windows "preparing automatic repair screen!. I then go to "troubleshoot", then "advanced options", then "UEFI firmware settings", then restart. This brings up the boot options menu from which I can select the...

I was having an issue with WMP turning off Network Streaming randomly. After Googling this for a resolution, I came across a post suggesting I go into Services.msc, and to Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service, make sure that it is set to Automatic, and on the Log tab, change the "Log on as" to Local System Account, in place of "This Account" - which was "Network Service" with a password...

I've ran through every possible fix on the internet in regards to fixing this issue. It's most likely related to bad driver, but I'm not sure which one. Each time I put the system in hibernation mode it crashes with the WDF Violation. There is no exception. I do not have any external drives, or external USB devices. I've run DISM, SFC, run Windows troubleshooter, created new power...

Hello, for the last 2-3 days out of nowhere the last 2-3 days my computer has been getting a variety of different BSODs. Many of which point to faulty hardware, drivers, or memory problems. I've tried a few things including updating any outdated drivers, and restoring the computer, but it's starting back up again. My build is fairly new, got it about 2 months ago and has worked since then with no...
