I recently tried to change my Username from the default first five letters of my email address by following one of Shawn Brinks tutorials. After three or four failed attempts I gave up and am stuck with the default which is C:\ User\grtat. I will probably return to that in the near future.
Before making these attempts however, I copied some personal files and folders to an external hard drive...

Opinions On New PC For Son, Please ?

I have an iMac, but my son uses a HP Desktop Pavillion.
9 years old now, and has just quit.
PSU (Green light in back is steady on), Battery, and on/off switch seem fine, so likely something fried.
Probably can be considered a really good lifetime

Huge slow down in disk IO after Cumulative Update KB4471332 !
so I managed to install the December 2018 Cumulative Update KB4471332 over windows build 1809 , end result was that disk read/write slowed down significantly . now I can copy things back and forth across drives in 40 MB/s speed cap while earlier to installing the update I averaged 60~100 , I revised the drivers and to my surprise the update haven't changed any of them . I have stuttering in games...

I need notification on W10 desktop when email at hotmail comes
What exactly to do so that Windows 10 desktop would show notification in a lower-right corner of the screen on of the desktop when an e-mail at my outlook(hotmail) comes? Normal email not junk.

Unable to record audio (streaming or otherwise) in Win 10 pro

How to get full access to WindowsApps folder to modify game files?
I made a new WindowsApps folder in D:\ and took over the ownership with "Take ownership context menu" hack from this Article (https://www.maketecheasier.com/access-windowsapps-folder-windows-10/). I'm able to see the files inside but unable to write. I only have one game inside the D:\WindowsApps folder called World of Tanks Blitz so it's not very messy.

What does it mean "Stablish as icon application"?

Whenever I open Photos app from Windows 10, then right clicking on a picture it does show the option " Stablish as icon application ". It may differ a little bit since I do not have the OS as english language but when I selected such option nothing did happen. What does it change exactly ?

Only show clock in taskbar
New PC installed last week running win10 , previous machine also running win 10 , i had just the clock showing in taskbar (along with speaker & network icons) .
New PC will not let me just select clock icon, it insists on having date as well. I have minimised icons and rezised taskbar, switched everyone on and off but i can't get just clock to show, it keeps date always underneath it.

I've been able to set up login scripts for given users on a local box (no domain).
I want to have a script run at login time for ALL users.

news pop-ups in lower right corner
Hi, I'm brand new to this forum. I would like to stop the news pop ups that come up in a gray box in the lower right hand corner of my laptop. I did find an answer that said the following "This is probably something you can suppress by disabling Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions -> Show app notifications (assuming that the culprit displays this as a standard Windows notification)....

Solved Office 2016 - File Corrupt
Hi,
My installation of office isn't working right from the start!
if i want to open a file not made by this copy of office, it says the file is corrupt.
I can open the same excel file by opening excel, in the recent page, there's open other workbooks link, i can select the same file and it opens ok?
Word does this as well
I went to uninstall it and the option to repair install was there...

Windows 10, dual boot second os stuck on automatic repair.
Hey, i'm currently running windows 10 dual boot, one of the windows versions is for my insider one.
Can boot into one of both OS, not the insider version, but when i try to boot up in the second one.
Im stuck on preparing to automatic repair or something like that. It restarts, and again. Automatic repair etc.

BSOD on Hibernation always happens HP Envy WDF Violation 0x0000010d
I've ran through every possible fix on the internet in regards to fixing this issue. It's most likely related to bad driver, but I'm not sure which one.
Each time I put the system in hibernation mode it crashes with the WDF Violation. There is no exception. I do not have any external drives, or external USB devices.

I used to have a "New Document" and "Open Documents" shortcut in my Windows 10 folder. I can't remember where I found the info on how to do that again and I needed to format my hard drive recently.
