cannot change file association
Suddenly, I cannot change my file association to the program I want.
For example, I want to change ".txt" to use "notepad2.exe", not the default "notepad". Recently I was able to do that.
If I right-click, properties, and choose my "notepad2", the change won't take effect. It will still stay the default notepad.

Playing MP4 but Missing Codec 0x8007000e
Morning all

It plays fine one minute but next time i'd get this.
Also apps that need video or 3d display report that direct x is missing, whereas it wasn't at the beginning of the session.
dxdiag reports no issues.
VLC plays it fine, WMP plays it...

Rune regedit for non-admin user
Somehow my ToastNotifications got switched off. Need to have admin privileges to switch it back on. Running regedit as Administrator doesn't work. Have a .reg file, but that has to be double-clicked, so no privileges. Can't set Properties ... Run as Administrator for a .reg file.

JPG Thumbnails of vertical JPG images are displayed as horizontal imag
Suddenly, vertical JPG images show thumbnail images squeezed into horizontal thumbnail JPGs. RAW files are not affected and show vertical thumbnails as expected.
I do have Sagethumbs installed, so that I can see JPG thumbnail images of PSD and TIFF files. No problems with thumbnail images from PSD and TIFF files.
I uninstalled Sagethumbs and the problem persisted. So I don;'t think...

MS Word 2016 displays doc properly, but boxes appear when printing
I just printed several 200+ page documents and somebody noticed that the document is riddled with boxes. This seems to happen only on pages that have Thai characters on them. The document is used in a bilingual school so they are all a mixture of English & Thai. Here's a pic below:

Spelling options
Sometimes when I make a really bad spelling mistake one of the options that comes up on a right click is "talk it out loud" or "speak it "and if you accidentally hit that option it will go on to read out everything on that page or open email screen.
How can I stop it doing that?? without losing spellcheck please.
